Colour company Pantone has unveiled their colour of the year 2017
Pantone, the global colour authority for the design industry has unveiled their colour of the year 2017 as a shade of green.
Pantone make their annual decision based on an assessment of new influences across a wide spectrum including design, entertainment, lifestyle and socio-economic conditions.
In an interview with the New York Times, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said that the choice was made in response to a “stressful and tense world”. “This is the colour of hopefulness and of our connection to nature”
The exact colour they have chosen is named ‘Greenery’ and is described by Pantone as a “tangy yellow-green. Illustrative of flourishing foliage, the fertile attributes of Greenery signals one to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate”
How to use the colour green in your home
So the experts have spoken and green is a growing trend. We are already seeing it starting to show up in new fabric launches, botanical wallpapers, housewares and furniture and we are expecting to see more it over the next few weeks as we visit the trade shows.
Will you be looking to update your home this year using “nature’s neutral”? If so, here are a few our Furnish & Fettle favourites……
Little Greene paint
OK, so it’s a bit obvious but the number one slot has to go to Little Greene! However, a fresh lick of paint is one of the quickest and easiest ways to freshen up a room. If you need advice on which colour to use, just call into our Wetherby showroom and speak to one of our interior designers who will happily help you choose the right shade to suit your room – whether it is green or not! Plants around the house are a great way of adding a little splash of green into to your home. Artificial plants have advanced rapidly in recent years, so much so that it is often almost impossible to differentiate between the real thing. If you’re not particularly green fingered, it’s a good idea to invest in a few key artificial plants like this lovely fern. Pop into the Furnish & Fettle showroom in Wetherby to purchase your own at £29.95 each. They also make a great present idea – and last a lot longer than a bunch of flowers!
Why not incorporate some green/nature inspired fabrics into your home? This lovely Hana design fabric (called Hana Eden) has been inspired by trailing wisteria and depicts blossoming flowers in great trails. It’s printed on beautiful, slubbed cotton that is soft to the touch, so ideal for cushions and upholstery. Speak to one of our design consultants who will help you choose the right fabric for your home/project.
