We had a visit from the lovely Debbie at Olivia Bard fabrics last week (a Yorkshire based textiles company) and as a fan of their stunning collection of fabrics, tie backs and curtain poles, we asked them to tell us a bit more about the Olivia Bard story…
Inspired by travel, Olivia Bard tells a story of journeys made, of cultures discovered and of exploration.
Olivia Bard offers beautifully crafted, eclectic collections of fabrics, tiebacks, poles and now Translations, a select range of finished products. The first four collections were launched two years ago, and have since made a striking impression on the Interior Design scene.
Each of the OB collections, of which there are now seven to date, transports you on a journey that explores the unique beauty of the world and celebrates its craft. Sweeping through diverse geographical landscapes and cultures, bringing an eclectic style that communicates the voices of the world to bring considered individual interiors together, making home an extraordinary place.
Olivia Bard is one of the ranges conceived by the Haddow family, whose landmark business premises lie in Lister Mills in Bradford. The Group strives to bring its very own Yorkshire style and business acumen to the world of textiles.
Walking away with the Drapers Award in 2015 as fashion supplier of the year, Haddow are an acclaimed name for design and innovation, coupled with its slick supply chain management, making it a preferred supplier to the majority of retailers in the high street.
The historic premises at Lister Mills, was acquired by the Haddow family in the late 1980’s and has been the operational base ever since. The mill has undergone extensive dramatic renovations to restore it to a place of inspiration, bringing back the architectural beauty of the interiors, adding photographic studios and now pioneering the advance of an eco-digital pigment printer, producing prints for both the Haddow brands and also contract customers, as well as their extensive warehouse.
Olivia herself, not only works as part of the team within the Group, but is the design inspiration behind Olivia Bard. Her passion for nurturing the talent pipeline and finding the best creatives in the business to bring inspiration to all that Haddow creates is a statement of being. Olivia’s own background as an anthropologist with a Masters from the school of Oriental and African Studies has directed the design teams to create Olivia Bard, and bring the stories of her travels, the people and the diverse beauty of the world together to make unique, individual statements for the home.
